Big Mike & The Booty Papas - Keep Your Hand Out Of My Pocket

Lever's Blues welcomes Big Mike & The Booty Papas.
Big Mike & The Booty Papas are one of my favorite acts and a listen to
their music tells why. These guys offer a solid blues cd on every
effort. For ten years now big mike has been entertaining audiences
from Indiana to Key West, Florida. They have opened for the likes of
Johnny Winter, Jr. Walker, Government Mule, Warren Haynes, Steve
Morse, Les Dudeck and even Dr. Hook.

Their latest cd Keep Your Hand Out Of My Pocket is another great
offering. It features eleven top notch tracks. This cd covers the full range of subjects for blues tunes. From the cheatin' songs I can Tell and You Can't Do That to an excellent cover of Whipping Post. They slow it down for Keep Your Hands Out Of My Pocket in true blues fashion. Next up is an outstandingly well written song called No Use Crying. Sensing they may have lowered the mood too much they rebound with a fun uptempo piece called Hey Willie and his love for big women. They slow it down again for Macon Blues, the song of drinkin away the blues and contemplating what he has done wrong. They pick it up again with the fun and toe tapping Look At That Booty, if this song doesn't make you move you had better check your pulse. They slow it down again with a change of view in I'm In Love they then turn do a slow number which has a great rhythm, Struttin' With Taj and round out the offering with a great medley rendition of Mellow Down Easy/ Shake Your Money Maker.

I enjoyed this entire cd and don't feel there is a weak track on it
which is suprising when compared with the corporate artist's recent
offerings.

They are a very active blues band playing 260 - 300 shows a year and
are twice nominated for Grammy Awards in 1998.
